DCFCU EXPANDS WITH FIRST MOBILE BANKING BRANCH IN SOUTH FLORIDA
October 1, 2008
The Dade County Federal Credit Union maintains a long history of community involvement, and its newest endeavor, the first mobile banking branch for a credit union in South Florida, reflects its trademark dedication to customer service and commitment to the local community. In addition to serving as a convenient full-service branch that includes a walk-up ATM, the Dade County Federal Credit Union Mobile Branch will serve as an emergency banking center in parts of Miami-Dade that experience extended power outages.
The new mobile branch, which will first be deployed at Westminster Christian School and the future site of the credit union’s new branch in Hialeah at 1738 W. 49 Street starting in October, will offer comprehensive access to the credit union’s banking services for members. Its spacious interior will enable visitors to make transactions and open accounts in air-conditioned comfort. The walk-up ATM in the exterior of the vehicle will provide quick and convenient access to cash and account information. With its own generator and secure satellite data and voice connection to the credit union’s emergency banking center in Orlando, the mobile branch will also provide for the immediate banking needs of those in areas that lose power for prolonged periods of time.
“As a financial institution with deep roots in the local community, we are always striving to provide the very best for our members and the area as a whole,” said George Joseph, the president and CEO of DCFCU. “Our new mobile branch will provide convenient and immediate access to our banking services at some of the most frequented gathering places and events in South Florida. But its most important work will come after major storms when power outages make access to cash and deposits difficult for some residents. The mobile branch will serve as a vital connection for local residents during emergencies and recoveries.”
In 2003, DCFCU converted to a community charter making the credit union open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Miami-Dade County. In addition to its new mobile branch, DCFCU currently maintains 11 traditional branches and plans to open its new Hialeah branch in November of this year. A branch is also scheduled for 2009 to open in Homestead. The credit union is a not-for-profit financial institution owned by the members and operated exclusively for their benefit.
